End Users

Tanja Loitz

why i support heat pumps watch:
"Every day, homeowners in our co2online community decide which system they want to use to heat their homes. Well-founded expert information with the latest data from HPW is invaluable for our channels and content factory."

Loitz is a co-founder and managing director of the non-profit consultancy co2online gGmbH. Its goal is to support private households in saving energy and reducing their CO2 emissions through digital tools and services (e.g., through the energy-saving calculator or the heating mirror). For her commitment and work with co2online, she has received multiple awards, including the German Environmental Prize (on behalf of co2online). Tanja Loitz is considered a key figure in Germany regarding the digital implementation of climate protection strategies in the private sector.

Industry

Thomas Nowak

why i support heat pumps watch:
"The heat pump market will grow rapidly in the coming months and years, bringing forth a variety of solutions. This growth needs structure - and I am convinced that Heat Pumps Watch can provide it. I am happy to support Marek in this endeavor and to serve as a radar for key topics."

Thomas is a long-term (renewable) energy enthusiast. Apart from closely following the energy transition in both the electricity and heating sectors, he is the owner of a heat pump, a PV power plant, and a building in which both peacefully cooperate. Currently, Thomas represents the Swedish scale-up Qvantum Industries as Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs, aiming to position heat pumps as a viable solution for multi-family buildings. Before his current position, Thomas led the European Heat Pump Association as Secretary General. For nearly 18 years, he represented the industry at European institutions and shaped it to become the impact-driven representation of the sector in Brussels.

Communication

Anja Floetenmeyer-Woltmann

why i support heat pumps watch:
"The heat transition is not just a technical project, but also a matter of trust. Transparency and reliable data are prerequisites for good decisions – in politics, planning, and communication. I support Heat Pumps Watch because well-founded insights and clear signals make a difference."

Strategist for heat transition communication, EU Climate Pact Ambassador, System Accelerator, member of the EU Heat Pump Accelerator Platform Advisory Board. Anja Floetenmeyer-Woltmann distills complex topics like the heat transition into clear messages – strategically, target group-oriented, and implementation-focused. She develops formats that make technical solutions compatible and enhance political communication. As a strategic advisor for the nationwide “Week of the Heat Pump 2024,” she has developed the central communication content. Currently, she is responsible for the nationwide heat pump information days in ten model municipalities, starting in October 2025.

Research, Development & Science

Peter Schossig

why i support heat pumps watch:
"There can be no successful climate transition without a successful heating transition, as over 50% of Germany’s final energy consumption is heat. Electrification via heat pumps is key. Research institutions all over the world are constantly generating new findings in this area. Heat Pumps Watch collects these and makes them easily understandable for various target groups."

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Schossig is a leading figure in German energy research and an expert in heat and buildings. He leads the “Heat and Buildings” division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and primarily researches heat pumps and thermal energy storage. Since 2024, he has also held the newly established professorship “Technologies for Climate-Friendly Buildings and Districts” at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He also contributes his expertise to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

HPW Founder & Executive Director

Marek Miara

why i support heat pumps watch:
"After over two decades in research, management, and communication at Fraunhofer ISE, I am convinced: The greatest hurdle in the heating transition is not technical; it lies in trust. Heat Pumps Watch is my personal answer: We translate science into clarity and use independent facts to create a solid foundation for end-user decisions."

Dr.-Ing. Marek Miara is a leading heat pump expert whose career has been shaped by over 22 years at Fraunhofer ISE. His career is defined by the combination of scientific depth, strategic management, and outstanding communication talent. He is currently working as “Business Developer Heat Pumps.”He laid his academic foundation with master’s degrees from Wrocław University of Science and Technology (2000) and the University of Kassel (2004), and completed his doctorate in 2014 at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He was responsible for international EU projects and, as “Operating Agent,” led the IEA HPT Projects 50 and 62, which intensively dealt with the global application of heat pumps in multi-family buildings. Nationally, he is active as the Curator of the Heat Pump and Refrigeration Technology research field within the BMWK Energy Research Network. He serves as Vice Chairman of the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association (DKV), is a board member of the European Heat Pump Association (ehpa), and a co-founder of the Polish Heat Pump Association (PORT PC).

Furthermore, he contributes his knowledge as a member of Scientists for Future Germany. As a sought-after speaker, moderator, and explainer, he uses his broad media experience (numerous appearances on television, radio, and in the press) to communicate complex technical facts from research in a target-group-oriented and understandable manner.
